Who Should Attend

This educational activity is aimed at practicing clinicians, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and clinical researchers who wish to review and update their knowledge and management of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract.

Objectives

After successful completion of this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Discuss evolving multimodality treatment options for patients with esophageal cancer
  • Describe emerging treatment approaches for gastrointestinal stromal tumors
  • Evaluate the diagnostic tools and endoscopic techniques used to detect and manage early gastric cancer
  • Select the most appropriate therapeutic strategy for gastric cancer
  • Integrate advances in systemic and local therapies into clinical practice to treat hepatobiliary tumors
  • Summarize new and emerging treatment options for pancreatic cancer
  • Improve the outcomes of patients with localized colorectal disease by employing most favorable adjuvant therapy
  • Comment on the role of cytotoxic treatment regimens, angiogenesis inhibitors and EGFR inhibitors in advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer
  • Assess the clinical implications of using molecular markers as screening and prognostic tools for colorectal cancer
  • Review the most clinically relevant data recently presented regarding upper GI and colorectal cancer management
  • Comment on surgical techniques used to treat various gastrointestinal cancers

Participants interested in presenting data should submit abstracts online at www.imedex.com by 16 July 2009. Abstracts are subject to acceptance by the Scientific Committee.

Acceptance notifications and guidelines for poster presentation will be sent on 27 July 2009 Authors of accepted abstracts who have not registered will have until 14 August 2009 to do so at the rate of $225.00. After this date, abstracts without registered presenters will be disregarded. It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 3rd Conference –World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer: Asian Perspectives, August 28-29, 2009 in Taipai, Taiwan. Guided by an expert international faculty, this two-day scientific meeting will provide a detailed overview of the state-of-the-art in management of gastrointestinal cancer, with a spotlight on current trends and controversies and significant developments which may lead to improved results.
