This educational activity is intended for oncologists, radiation therapists, otolaryngologists, surgeons and other healthcare professionals in active clinical practice interested or involved in the management of patients with cancers of the head and neck. No specialized knowledge or skills other than a general familiarity with cancer and its treatment is required for successful participation in this course.

After successfully completing this continuing medical education course, participants should be able to:

• Comment on methods of detection and prevention of cancers of the head and neck
• Discuss current approaches in prognosis and therapy of early and intermediate stagecancers of the head and neck
• Identify surgical advances in the treatment of head and neck cancers
• Discuss various treatment options and challenges in palliative care for head and neck cancer patients
• Identify contemporary and promising strategies for improved management of advanced and recurrent cancers of the head and neck
