It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for the 9th International Symposium on Febrile Neutropenia. This winter’s symposium in Valencia, Spain, 26-27 January 2007, promises to be our most valuable meeting yet!

The continued growth and success of this international symposium over the past few years has been a true testimony of the need for a meeting focusing on febrile neutropenia. Attendees have offered praise for the quality of the scientific program and the faculty, and they have stated that participation in this conference significantly enhances their knowledge of the implications and management of febrile neutropenia.

This International Symposium is specifically designed for medical oncologists, infectious disease specialists, radiation oncologists, and other healthcare professionals interested and involved in the treatment of patients with febrile neutropenia. Our panel of international experts will touch on the most salient aspects of the etiology, diagnosis, and state-of-the-art management of febrile neutropenia.

Continuing with our successful abstract submissions tradition, we will again be accepting abstracts for both oral and poster presentations. We look forward to reviewing and sharing your research findings with the community.

For this winter’s symposium, we are delighted to be gathering in Valencia, Spain—a city whose cultural and historic importance is felt around the world. Participants interested in presenting data should submit abstracts online at www.imedex.com by 20 December 2006. Abstracts are subject to acceptance by the Scientific Committee. Once accepted, abstracts will be published in the final program book and scheduled for oral or poster presentation.

Acceptance notifications and guidelines for poster presentation will be sent on 3 January 2007. Authors of accepted abstracts who have not registered will have until 12 January 2007 to do so at the discounted rate of € 550. After this date, abstracts without registered presenters will be disregarded.

This educational program is specifically designed for medical oncologists, infectious disease specialists, radiation oncologists, and other physicians, physicians-in-training, and healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists) interested in and/or involved in the care of patients with febrile neutropenia. No specialized knowledge or skill other than general familiarity with the above disciplines is required for successful participation in this program.

After completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Recognize important concepts in the epidemiology and etiology of febrile neutropenia
• Recognize important fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens affecting patients with febrile neutropenia based on etiology
• Apply current management treatment stratgies for fungal, bacterial and viral infections based on interactive case discussions
• Identify important strategies for diagnosing fungal and viral infections in febrile neutropenic patients
• Evaluate the impact of current anticancer regimens on the incidence, development, and infectious complications of febrile neutropenia

Cancellation
For registration fees to be refunded, written notice of cancellation must be received at Imedex no later than 17 January 2007. The amount of registration fees remitted, minus a € 90 administrative charge, will be refunded after the international symposium. Substitutions are accepted with written notification. No refunds will be made if notice is received after 17 January 2007.
