Who Should Attend
This activity is intended for gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, physician assistants, pediatricians, ostomy specialists, dieticians, psychologists, nurses, advanced practice nurses, surgeons, clinical researchers, and other persons in the healthcare community with an interest in the treatment and management of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases.
Objectives
After attending this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Comment on the epidemiology of IBD
- Identify new insights in understanding the mechanisms of the inflammatory process which directly affect patient care
- Review significant advances in therapeutic options, particularly biologics and immunomodulators in the treatment of IBD
- Discuss the current management of both newly diagnosed and relapsed or treatment-refractory patients
- Describe evolving patient management and treatment strategies for intestinal and extraintestinal complications in IBD
- Identify appropriate strategy options for the management of pediatric and adolescent patients with IBD
- Recommend disease management options based on current understanding of case presentations from national IBD thought leaders
- Review updates in diagnosis, safety and risk assessments for therapies used in the managements of patients with IBD
- Identify the most appropriate and effective surgical techniques in the treatment of IBD
- Review the role of behavioral interventions and special nutritional needs for patients with IBD

- Cases must be written in English
- Accepted format: PowerPoint format, 4-5 slides maximum or Word format
- List affiliations of case submitters as briefly as possible, with city, state and country
- Use standard and well-accepted abbreviations
- When using references, use standard and well-accepted formats
