Who Should Attend
This educational activity is designed for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, pathologists and other healthcare providers involved and/or interested in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with breast cancer.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate genomic and proteomic tools for the assessment of recurrence risk, prediction of benefit from chemotherapy, and individualization of therapeutic decision making, while identifying the latest and most important prognostic and predictive factors in breast cancer
- Determine where novel agents including PARP inhibitors, anti-angiogenic agents, and novel anti-tubulin agents can be used to create new standards of care for patients with early-stage, locally-advanced or metastatic breast cancer
- Compare and contrast the most appropriate treatment regimens utilizing neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies including which patient population would benefit most from extended aromatase inhibitor treatment
- Comment on current and emerging research in the pathogenesis and therapies for triple-negative breast cancer and evaluate the potential for improved patient prognosis
- Describe the biologic rationale for HER2-targeted therapies, and discuss recent clinical trial data evaluating novel HER2-directed agents
- Address the current controversies in the management of locally-advanced and metastatic breast cancer including decisions on continued therapy after disease progression
- Assess the appropriate therapeutic response to ductal carcinoma in situ and the appropriate timing of sentinel lymph node biopsy
- Determine the implications of “BRCAness” syndrome to the outcome of women with cancer and how this concept has impacted the development of new therapeutic

Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the 16th Annual Perspectives in Breast Cancer, a dynamic forum for leaders in breast cancer research and patient care to increase their knowledge and share their challenges and successes in disease management.
This year, we changed the format of the conference to give you, a practicing clinician, with a comprehensive, one day update of didactic presentations in conjunction with lively and instructive debates. Topics include clinical options for trastuzumab-resistant breast cancers, “BRCAness” syndrome in women’s cancers, and appropriate management of small cancers.
Please join us in New York for what promises to be a rewarding professional update.
Sincerely,
Christy A. Russell, MD
