Fifteen New Faculty Members to Present Key Findings about IBD at Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Clinical and Research Conference

New York, NY- The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and Imedex announced today that 15 new faculty members will present clinical and research findings about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis during the 2016 Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Clinical and Research Conference (AIBD). The field of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is moving faster than ever before. Treatment options including emerging therapies and surgical management, and advancements in quality of care make it imperative for healthcare providers to actively participate in the discussion. AIBD is designed to meet the education needs of healthcare professionals and researchers who study and manage patients with IBD. Led by co-chairs Stephen B. Hanauer, MD, Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and Richard P. MacDermott, MD, Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Albany Medical Center, more than 60 expert specialists from the U.S. and abroad will lead sessions. New faculty members presenting this year include:

“We are pleased to have 15 new faculty members join us for the conference this year,” said Dr. Richard MacDermott, conference co-chair and Emeritus Professor of Medicine at Albany Medical Center.  “They are a great addition to the already outstanding faculty we have in place. In just two and half days, we cover all of the important aspects of basic and advanced care for IBD patients, as well as recent discoveries in cutting edge clinical research.”

At AIBD, clinicians will gain practice-changing knowledge, which can be implemented into their practice immediately. Researchers will stay abreast of the vastly changing scientific landscape. Additionally, for the first time ever, the conference’s nursing agenda, which empowers nurses and allied healthcare providers to develop best practices in interprofessional IBD patient care, will be certified by the American Academy of CME, Inc, an accredited provider of continuing nursing education.

Approximately 2,400 participants are expected to attend this year’s conference, which is endorsed by the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology (NASPGHAN), and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG). The conference will be organized and certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ by Imedex, a global leader in education, and for ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation) contact hours by American  Academy of CME, Inc.
