This educational activity is specifically designed for medical and surgical oncologists, dermatologists, researchers and other physicians, physicians-in-training and other healthcare professionals interested in and/or involved in the care of patients with melanoma and its consequences.
This Webcast is a direct representation of the Perspectives in Melanoma XI meeting held in Huntington Beach, California on October 3-4, 2007. The history of melanoma treatment, drug development, staging and diagnostics, as well as recent exciting clinical trial results are the emphasis of this very thorough online activity. International experts define where we have been and where we are going with the treatment of this elusive disease.
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss important aspects of the pathogenesis of melanoma
- Identify pathways involved in melanoma progression and their implications for potential therapy
- Integrate important advances in diagnostic and imaging technologies into clinical practice
- Describe emerging concepts and progress in the role of surgery and staging of melanoma
- Analyze recent progress in melanoma vaccine development
- Describe the role of the immune system in melanoma pathogenesis and identify immunological targets for therapy
- Identify currently available and investigational targeted agents for the management of metastatic melanoma
- Incorporate findings from recent clinical trials examining the role of adjuvant therapy into daily management of patients with melanoma
