Hematologists, medical oncologists, and other healthcare personnel who care for and manage patients with multiple myeloma
Activity Overview
This Webcast provides an overview of the current and future treatment strategies for the following scenarios: 1) induction therapy for the patient who is transplant eligible; 2) induction for transplant ineligible patients; 3) relapsed or refractory disease; 3) maintenance of remission. There is also a discussion of future directions for patients with multiple myeloma. The myeloma experts at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center have each taken a topic in myeloma management and expounded on treatment variables, obstacles and evidence-based strategies utilized at their center. Dr Alexanian is the moderator, and Drs Giralt, Orlowski, and Weber present their thoughts and recommendations.

Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss recent clinical trial results pertinent to the front-line treatment of multiple myeloma and apply this knowledge to decision making in patient management
- Explain which strategies for managing relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma are evidence-based and recommended by experts
- Clarify who is transplant eligible and how disease management strategies might affect stem cell collection or bone marrow collection
- Describe how to integrate new developments in myeloma research into daily clinical practice
- Review potential practice changing data and their implications for future patient management
- Discuss the current rationale regarding transplant options and the role of maintenance therapy
